The resources below I gathered to build a unit to transition from Botany to Zoology over Christmas break. I used Botany standards 1.a-g and 2.a and e and Zoology Standards 1a-g; 2a,b,d; 3a and e. I noticed immediately that students loved having/nurturing living organisms in the classroom. Before I introduced the plant/soil/worm project, the botany classes started lettuce seedlings and transplanted cacti. I was attempting to familiarize students with handling life--seeds and plants. Study of biology should be hands on. I saw and enjoyed students concern for life when they were directly responsible for its well being.
